Taylor Swift is the winner of the Global Icon Award in 2021. She is a famous singer as well as a songwriter. Taylor Swift shared her joy with Anita Baker for winning the fight to own her masters. It is a surprising moment. Anita announced that her problem related to the masters was resolved. Swift had twitted “What a beautiful moment, CONGRATULATIONS ANITA!!” with two happy-crying and clapping emojis on Saturday 4th of September.
The response from Baker was “Thank You, for Your *Fire & Support!! It Inspires us all, to move Mountains.” with praise hand emoji. Anita Baker won Grammy eight times.
It is not the first time that Swift showed support for Baker’s fight for her own masters. The soul singer had twitted ‘miraculously’ she had ‘ out-lived *ALL, of my Artist Contracts.” However, she further tells, “By Law… 30yr old, Mstrs are 2B Returned, 2 Me, Unfortunately, They’re gonna make me Fight 4 It. I’m Prepared, 2 do that. Please Don’t advertise/buy them.” Swift had referenced Swift also.
Swift was fighting her first six albums including Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and 2017’s Reputation were very public. She had tweeted “I’m cheering you on in your fight to get back your work, and appreciate your support so much!! Thank you.”
Swift had to re-record her first six albums due to get around Scooter Braun’s acquisition of Big Machine. She had released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April, and hoping to release Red (Taylor’s Version) in November.
After the acquisition of Big Machine, the Blank Space hitmaker checked her Tumblr account and post a lengthy post denouncing the sale. She told that It does not allow her to buy her own masters unless she agreed to sign an updated contract.
Anita went on to claim that Braun and Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta banned the performing of her old songs at the 47th Annual American Music Awards and also using them in her 2020 documentary, Miss Americana.
Most of the musical artists, including Iggy Azalea and Halsey, have publicly expressed their support for Swift. But Manger’s clients including Justin Bieber, have taken the opponent’s side on the issue.
Braun eventually sold the masters, along with other properties owned by the singer You Belong With Me’s production, to Shamrock Holdings in October last year in a deal that reportedly cost over $ 300 million.
The singer later said that the tycoon offered her a chance to bid on the masters. But she had declined it.
Anyway, she was able to gain the win from the fight to own her masters. The album that comes in November will be a hit of Swift. It is a rare and surprising moment to see an icon celebrate another’s winning.
